What education, training, credentials and life experience do you have that help you in your work with preschoolers?
I graduated from Appalachian State University with my degree in Elementary Education and have spent the past 8 years working with children in the classroom, Sunday school, and camp settings. This past Spring, I completed my student teaching in a Kindergarten classroom at Clemmons Elementary. Having spent time teaching in Kindergarten, I feel especially excited to continue teaching and exploring with young learners.
What year did you join the Preschool staff?
What class are you teaching this year?
What do you consider to be your hometown?
What are your most important teaching goals for the children in your class?
My hope is that children will leave our class feeling confident in their abilities and excited to enter a classroom. Through student-led exploration and play, I hope to foster creativity, aid the development of new social skills, and reveal to each of them that they are learners.
What do you like most about your job?
I love sharing in each child’s excitement as they create imaginary scenarios, try new foods, or learn new information. It is so special to work with young children because they are still comfortable being silly and completely themselves.
