Karen Kearns

What education, training, credentials and life experience do you have that help you in your work with preschoolers?

I have had the wonderful opportunity to both teach and work with preschoolers for the last 12 years. I earned the North Carolina Childhood Credentials in 2008 and completed 20+ hours of continuing education each year. I am a mom of two sons and was an avid school volunteer during their elementary and middle school years. In addition, I have worked with families caring for their young children for many years. I am a graduate of High Point University.

What are your most important teaching goals for the children in your class?

To help teach the basic learning skills and values and nurture creativity, self-expression, self-esteem and the development of social skills.

What do you like most about your job?

As a floater, I have the opportunity to work with and learn from all of the teachers. In addition, I can engage with each and every child on a daily basis and help reinforce what they are learning in the classroom.
